La Perla this season catered to those women that might watch a Victoria’s Secret show, (as it happens, a number of her Fall cast are also Angels) but would never actually buy Victoria’s Secret. Julia Haart’s response was “I am creating this specialized world where ready-to-wear and lingerie meld together: our clothes come in dress sizes, but also cup sizes.”
Naomi Campbell opened the show in a navy stretch silk slip dress patched with black lace parts and a floral macramé-embroidered tweed overcoat. Tweed followed by tailored wool pieces gave an academic feel to the show.
Haart’s “Terrace” section was her best, in which florals and leaves were emroidered onto little negligees and rompers. Model Lineisy Montero’s outfit was a fitted ultra short slip dress with a built-in bra and a pair of Crayola-bright blooms. (Her spider jewel-embellished mules were also cute, too! Totally lust worthy.) There were also lots of other cute shoes, like the uber lüxe fur trimmed high heeled slides that were seen on models down the runway… they will surely sell out come Fall!
The color palette of the show was beige, navy blue, grey, gold, fuschia pink, orange, purple, royal blue, baby pink, white and black.
The show’s clothes had both a sexy as well as innocent feel to it, as contradictory as that may sound. There was plenty of leather and lace, but this was all done with restraint and in a young and cheeky way. It almost had a playful girlishness to it all! And hemlines were only occasionally above knee length, too. Something that older women might appreciate, too!
To sum it up? Playful, demure, girly sexiness at it’s finest!
